Vlad,
Excessive weather helm has a lot to do with mast set up as I recall.

When I had my Olson 911S, (IXXIS), I purchased plans from Schumacher for a new rudder and had it built by Advanced Composites Concepts in Santa Cruz. The name I have is Jay Hlavaty at 831 438 4492. That was all done in 2001. It was a tremendous improvemnet in boat handling both in going to windward and down wind control in high winds and reaching.
Good luck,

Subject: plans for new ruder, shaft strut
Hello, does anybody have detailed plans for new ruder. I have taken mine out for repair, but don't like design much. It is too swept back, without forward cross balancing section, as can be seen on most modern boats. I think,it may be part of my weather helm problem. Is new ruder more straight down model? There is some play in bushings. Does anybody have experience with removing ruder bushings out of tube(Ericson boat)?
There is play btw shaft strut and hull. Inside ,all area is glassed over (see pic), is this normal on Ericson build boat or somebody just went wild, trying to stop little leak. Any infos appreciated. Vlad Received on Wed Mar 11 06:37:56 2009
