Hi folks, I have an '88 vintage Ericson built boat. I'm planning a fairly major haul at the end of the summer to pull the keel and reset it on centerline. My keel is off center, not aligned fore and aft and not plumb. I've sailed and raced the boat a lot and I can't claim to have really noticed the problem while sailing, but it's hard to tune a rig knowing that the mast is not really centered over the keel. Also, there is some looseness in the keel bolts which I will solve at the same time.

I have to pull the rig to drop the keel so am going to replace standing rigging. I believe all Ericson built boats are wire rigged. Does anyone out there have any words of wisdom/caution as to problems I might encounter? Has anyone installed an adjustable mast step like the ones on the Pacific-built boats?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Happy Independence Day.
