Of folks who have added in running backstays or checkstays to the mast-
what are the methods people have found worked well?
Have you done it yourself or had a yard do it?
Did you put any kind of reinforcement inside of the mast?
Here are a couple of ways I have heard of so far:
- drill a hole through the mast and put a rod through it that is just
barely wider than the mast w/ a hole on each side. Attach a carabeaner
in each hole and attach the spectra to that.
- cut a slit in the mast and slide a Tbolt in and attach the spectra
to the bolt somehow at the end
- have a metal ball that the backstay line is spiced into.. have a
curved plate that the ball rotates in like a socket joint
