<<My hunch is that if Ericson made an "S" it was only because they didn't have time to work out their brand and marketing and that it is more like an SE for all intensive purposes. But that is only speculation.>>

The Ericson 911S was a 'cruiser-racer' in the same line as the Ericson brand hulls...make it nice for the Mrs. so they guy could buy it. Later, as more racers showed interest because of the success of the Pacific hulls, Ericson TOOK OUT things in the cruising genre, and added things that were racing oriented that were already on the options list for the 911S. In other words, they did all the work to put things IN first, then they simplified for the racing community. The departure from the cored hull made it cheaper for them to build the 911S/SE, but cost a lot in terms of performance loss.
