Hello Olson 911 Fleet!
I have a brand new-never used 145% genoa for sale made of 5.1 oz Mylar/Pentex. This sail was originally for Roger Crain but through a mix up in communications, was made of Pentex instead of Kevlar. The price is $1959, includes a sausage bag plus there will be shipping and handling for about another $100 from Australia, (less than sales tax you pay here).
The Mylar and the laminating adhesive are UV stabilzed for long life. This is a very durable material and should last for years. Pentex is a "Generation X" derivative of Dacron but higher molecular weight and higher tensilization for much higher strength and lower stretch than conventional polyester (Dacron). Pentex does not have the initial low stretch of Kevlar but it takes more abuse and is more forgiving of folding, flogging being poked against the spreaders, that kind of thing. This sail will be very fast for a very long time! The fabric has a very sexy kind of transparent grey color to it owing to the UV stabilizers. This too adds to the durability of the sail and makes it much more resistant to degradation in the sun light.
This is a great sail and comes at a great price. Roger can attest to the speed and quality of the sails (both his genoa and spinnaker) so you may get to see his new sail.
The sail was built by Horizon Sailmakers, Melbourne Australia of U.S. manufactured Contender fabric. Horizon is one of the two largest sailmakers in Australia and is known for its fast sails and quality work. In fact, the loft has enough volume to allow Horizon the option of designing its own sail fabric to it's own specifications, (which this fabric is).
I have personally worked with Frank Hammond, owner of Horizon, for 20 years since I was a sail designer for Horizon sails and later UK sails and can attest to the speed and quality of these sails. In fact, for the sails I don't build myself, he is my sailmaker of choice.
Let me know if you are interested in this genoa, or in fact a quote on any other sails. Delivery time is currently about 4 weeks. And if you need other sails, we can get quotes and delivery fast. Here are some other prices for the 911:
