Core material for the hulls of the Pacific boats, at least above the
waterline, is foam. I have Hull No.17 and had mine repaired after an
altercation with a bigger and heavier boat at a mark rounding two years ago.
What's more, if constant pressure is applied to the freeboard of the hull,
such as a fender pressing against it, it will permanently deform.
