Fellow Olson Sailors,
Just a note to say thanks to Dave Lampert for the terrific information he sent on the 2000 National's and the Golison event. I'm ready to head down right now! Especially the colder and wetter it gets here in Seattle.
I was lucky enough to join John Leitzinger and crew of Ozone, to compete last October at the US Sailing Offshore Championships at Long Beach Yacht Club. It was the first time for all of us to sail at this terrific sailing site. We raced 3 days, 1st day was 2 inside the breakwater, 2nd was a long distance inside and out, and 3rd was 2 outside the breakwater. Awesome sailing. I vote for some inside, having gained a little local knowledge!
We stayed at the Seaport Marina Hotel, and planned on staying there again for National's, figuring the lawn and barbecue area would be ideal for a Fleet party! We're excited to hear this is already in the works! It sounds like the boats will be kept at the docks on the mainland (hotel) side of the marina, and it should be an easy walk between the boats and the hotel.
I would like to encourage anyone considering attending, to definitely do it. And if you can swing the time to do both weekends, the sailing is worth the effort.
