Brian:
This is not something that I have heard happening all that frequently on the
XTs. What size line are you using with them? Off the top of my head, I would
recommend tearing them down and cleaning everything, it could be that the
spring in the cam assembly isn't quite right, if so then it's time for a new
cam assembly. IT is pretty rare for the handles to get bent inside where they
actuate the cam. I've got one here in my hand while I'm writing this. Let me
know what line diameter you are using and I will ponder this a bit more.

I read your response to the spinlock ?, and I have a follow-up....
I have 4 XT doubles on my boat. I have replaced the cams in four of the eight clutches. However, the handles frequently will not stay open when they are pushed all the way forward. They tend to close by themselves at the worst time - like the leeward mark rounding - forcing the pit to babysit them.
Will replacing the handles on these units correct the situation, or are
there other parts that also get worn, making replacement of the entire unit
the "best" option.
