Hi Dave,
We have the Spinlock XT/Rs on Barnstormer. Barnstormer's halyards are 5/16" Samson (ultralight?) covers with the cores replaced with 3/16" technora with the UV treatment. The cover only covers the technora from the tail as it exits the mast (at halyard up position) to 10 feet past the winch. They have worked perfectly, both the soft halyards and Spinlocks...no problems what so ever. Both are VERY pricey!, but worth all the cost, effort, and weight savings.
Chris Tutmark's comments are correct, and we have the two winch configuration he refer's too. We sailed a boat with one of the new Lewmar Superlocks with 3/8" rope halyards....it continually slipped all day. It took two of us to manipulate the system in the breezy conditions. The first chance we got, we backed up the clutch with a Harken camcleat that actually held much better. I have no experience with the Antals.
