Dear Olson Sailors,
The 1999 PIYA CARR Trophy regatta is being held in Seattle this year in Olson 30's. This event is for us older kids, with the crew age over 40 at the time of the regatta and the driver over 50. Each boat will have one "owners representative" on board who can do anything but bow and drive, also the driver must be a member of a PIYA affiliated yacht club. The team will be made up 1 each 50+ driver and 4 each 40+ crew plus the owners representative for 6 total.
The event is open to up to 2 teams fielded from the 4 PIYA west coast districts. The regatta contact is Pat Goodfellow WK # (206) 632-8700.
We are looking for volunteers to donate their boats for this event. We have 3 (Splash Tango 2, Surfer Girl & Roadrunner) so far but will need 7 or 8 boats total. All boats will be adequately insured on a separate policy at around $25,000. My job will be to keep the boats in better condition than when they were loaned.
Dates for the event are June 24-26, 1999. Sponsorship and race management will be provided by the Seattle Yacht Club and racing is to be held out of Elliott Bay on the downtown Seattle waterfront.
