NOTICE OF RACE 1999 OLSON 30 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
July 18-23, 1999

The Pacific Northwest Olson 30 Fleet would like to invite you to the 1999 Olson 30 National Championships. Held this year in conjunction with Northwest Marine Productions Inc., 1999 Whidbey Island Race Week.

SITE: Oak Harbor - Whidbey Island, Washington. Racing will be held in either Penn Cove or Saratoga Passage.

ELIGIBILITY: The regatta is open to all Olson 30 Class yachts as defined by the Olson 30 Class Association. Participants must meet all ownership, class membership, boat and sail measurement requirements and must have paid all event fees within their deadlines before becoming official competitors.

RULES: Three races will constitute a regatta. The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, the rules of the Olson 30 Class Association, the Notice of Regatta (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions), and additional Sailing Instructions to be published. This regatta is a Category A event per Appendix G3, of the RRS.

SCHEDULE: July 18 Sunday 1200-1700 Out of town sail measurement 1700-1730 Skippers Meeting

July 19 Monday          1050  Dock Start 1 or more races
July 20 Tuesday         1050  Dock Start 1 or more races
                                     1800-2200 Dinner & Annual Meeting
July 21 Wednesday   1050  Dock Start 1 or more races
July 22 Thursday         1050  Dock Start 1 or more races
July 23 Friday              1050  Dock Start 1 race only
                                      1700  Awards Party

COURSES: All courses will be primarily a windward-leeward configuration.

SCORING: The low point Scoring System, RRS rule A 2.2 will be used. If 6 races are sailed there will be one throw-out. 720 degree turns penalty will apply.

INSPECTION: Crew weigh-in will be performed on the top 3 finishing boats after each days racing. All sails must be measured and stamped prior to the regatta. For local Sail Measurement appointment, Contact Chuck Skewes at Ullman Sails Seattle - (206) 789-2171. Out of town boats are to be measured from Noon to 1700 on Sunday July 18th. No breathing apparatus allowed for cleaning bottoms during the regatta. Safety and class equipment inspections will be performed randomly. ALL BOATS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE ENGINES AND FUEL ONBOARD. LAUNCH & MOORAGE: Oak Harbor Marina is available for crane launching at $20 round trip. Boats may be launched and hauled at Shilshole Bay Marina free of charge with prior arrangements (Please note it is a 7 hour motor from Shilshole Bay to Oak Harbor). Moorage is arranged with Oak harbor marina directly and can be paid at time of registration. Trailer storage will be provided in Oak Harbor at no charge for all competitors. PRIZES: There will be trophies awarded to the winners of the first five places overall and the first five finishers who are owner driven. There will also be daily trophies for the first three places for each category.
