When I heard that some boats maximized the foot of their spinnaker I discus=
sed
it with my sailmakers. We determined that we had an excellent design
and that we had equal if not better speed downwind then boats that had
the maximized spinnakers. Why ruin a proven design and I have built three
new ones since this new fad. My spin's comply with the class constitution
and meet the PHRF rules. Backstay throw, crew weight/heel, weight of
cloth, clear air, surfing, driving deep in puffs, advance micro movement
of tiller, trim, etc. make an olson go fast downhill.
