The J-35 Class Association "technical committee" have submitted, and received approval from the Board of Governors proposing a change to the JCA rulebook. It is now to be sent to the general membership for a vote. Because the technical committee, and the BOG have authorized this item for voting, it does not mean they endorse, nor does it mean they renounce the idea. They just believe that there is enough support for the idea that the general membership should be polled to find consensus. (Board and tech committee members will each have a vote as will any other paid member...... and I hope the board members participate in the discussion forum.)

The proposal is to to change rule 3.7.1 allowing carbon fiber spinnaker poles.

The current rule book wording is:

"The spars shall be of aluminum extrusion."...
The proposed change the actual rulebook:

"Spars shall be of aluminum extrusion with the exception of the spinnaker
pole., which may be of aluminum extrusion or resin reinforced carbon fiber." Hard copy ballots will be mailed to all paid mambers to vote on this proposal.
