Amen to all of the previous messages. We looked pretty seriously at a SC40, as well as various other boats across the country. We did narrow it down to the J35 & a SC40. Test sailed both. First impressions of the SC40, a kick in the pants to sail, as "Dr. Lee" preaches "fast is fun", however if you think the J35 is crew intensive, the SC40 in my opinion would be more so, particularly in a blow, and I don't know about you guys but we have a hard time just getting a full crew. Both great boats, honestly when it came down to it, it was more a "gut feeling". The J35 "felt" more stout, more current systems, materials, upgrades, better network. I agree with the previous message that the J35 is a more forgiving boat in a blow. Whichever you choose I think you'll be happy, both great boats. We also cruise our boat extensively, nothing like doing 7.2's to get to the salmon! Good luck.
