Niels,
I sail on the great lakes. We have many J35’s locally and they have great racing in both PHRF and One design. Local DRYA PHRF rating is 72 and the boat is very competitive at that rating. I have owned one for 6 years and find the boat a pleasure to sail. I know practically nothing of the SC40.

Good luck in your purchase.

Bill

I am looking at getting either a J-35 or a SC 40. Have one of each that are fairly good examples located. Any thoughts on which would be the better boat for Monterey Bay? I wonder why there are not more J-35's down this way. Basically in my local questioning no one can say anything one way or the other about the J-35? The 40 is a little more, but the data on the J looks pretty good? Any help out there?
