One of the most compelling reasons that I purchased my 35 last spring was the opportunity for affordable big boat, one design racing . I see no advantage in either of these two proposed changes other than increasing the cost to remain competitive.

It also can have adverse effects on building our fleet. Having potential buyers looking at more expenses to keep up with the Jones' just scares them away. I just don't get this Carbon Pole thing???? Why do we need to mess with a good thing? What next? When will it stop?

People are selling their Mumm 30's due to this "pro" issue. The ID-35's are even addressing it. I don't buy the "plan ahead" with your sailmaker stuff either. My regular "guys" will do the big regattas because that's why I bought the boat! To race with the people that have developed along the way, and these are the folks that keep our sport going. Not because I didn't plan ahead and recruit a ringer!! When we win, it'll be because we did it. Not because I "planned ahead" with a daytimer and a checkbook.

There is an awful lot of negative response to these proposals in this area. I imagine this is pretty representative of other areas too. I hope that all members do their duty, and send in your ballots!!

Great Sport
Great Class
No Excuses!! (Let's keep it that way... No Differences!!!!!)
